Jason Orpheus (*formerly known as Latheem) is a natural-born talent. He was singing by age eight and composing songs by sixteen. He was trained to play the guitar and violin. His soulful voice and tone are reminiscent of Alanis Morissette meets Tracey Chapman.
His talents have taken him far and wide, including performing for the Mayor of Stockholm as well as sharing the stage with headliners such as Nakhane Toure`, Zolani Mahola, Matthew Gold, Craig Lucas, and Jimmy Nevis. His single “Human Being” was selected as the official Pretoria Pride anthem for 2017, reaching a number-one spot. His musical and songwriting inspirations include; his worldview, his family, social issues, love, and relationship dynamics.
Jason Orpheus is also the recipient of the Contributing Musician of the Year award, awarded to him in March of 2021 at the 2021+ Hero Awards.
